Early to earlier 19th century. Single storey and attic, 3-bay cottage, (2-1) with shop, in terrace (formerly 2-bay with pend to left). Painted rubble.

E (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: pend entrance to left, with panelled door to cottage set-back, and door to shop to right within pend. Windows in centre and right bays (formerly with door in centre bay). Canted and piended dormer window (post 19..) at centre.

S ELEVATION: adjoined to No 3 Main Street (see separate listing).

N ELEVATION: adjoined to No 7 Main Street (see separate listing).

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Granite coped mutual skews. Broad painted rubble mutual stacks. Graded grey slates.

Statement of Special Interest

No 5 Main Street is the Post Office.

Legislation introduced on 1 October 2015 allows us to state that: an object or structure fixed to the listed building; any object or structure within the curtilage of the listed building; and, any part or feature of the listed building that is not of architectural or historic interest may be excluded from a listing. The statement will use the word 'excluding' and quote the relevant section of the Historic Environment Scotland Act 2014.
